Big Hill Haven Programs

Outreach Program

Our Outreach Program offers support to women leaving or experiencing domestic abuse. This program can be a source of short-term support as women seek information and make healthy choices. The focus is safety, connection to community resources, and information and education related to domestic abuse and breaking the cycle of violence.

Emergency Shelter

We provide emergency housing through a secure rental building to ensure a safe place for healing that aids in preventing ongoing abuse. This service also provides the support needed for women and their families to put domestic violence behind them through the wrap-around support of our intensive case manager.

Aftercare Program

The Aftercare Group encourages individuals to connect and build a circle of support that understands the impact of family violence. The group supports resiliency, connection, confidence and builds hope. Big Hill Haven believes that we are stronger when we are connected and supported by people in our community who understand the strength and courage required to start over.

The Big Vision

Our current programs work to support the immediate needs of adults and their children today. Looking to the future, we know that a long-term sustainable solution to end domestic violence is required in Cochrane and surrounding areas. To this end, we continue to make progress and work towards:

  • A safe place for adults with or without children to stay when leaving domestic violence

  • Growing outreach support services for adults and children living with or leaving, domestic violence.

  • Supporting advocacy, referrals, and systems navigation including trauma-informed individualized support for adults and children

  • Building a collaborative continuum of care for those fleeing violence

  • Increasing education and awareness while reducing tolerance of violence, abuse and coercive control facing many in Cochrane and area.

Thanks to the tremendous support of the community and our partners, we continue to take steps forward to bring this big vision to life.
