*Big Hill Haven does not provide on-line support. Our website is designed for resource purposes only.

We rely heavily upon private donations and corporate funding so we appreciate your contribution.

Shelters can provide you with the help you need, from a safe place to stay, to counselling and referrals.

If someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, there are ways that YOU can help. What are you waiting for?

WE ARE  BIG HILL HAVEN

Cochrane's Big Hill Haven Women's Shelter is currently under planning & development.  It will be designed to support women who are suffering abuse of any kind: physical, sexual, emotional or mental. Our Haven will serve as a refuge for women and their children seeking to escape violence and abuse, where they can obtain professional help in a secure and confidential setting.

We will work to provide a wide range of support to help women and children overcome the damaging effects of abuse, including housing, counselling and a crisis support. Through group and individual programs, we will help rebuild lives in a supportive, caring environment.

All women will be welcome, regardless of financial or other considerations. Just know that we are here to help you, that we are committed to ending the cycle of abuse and violence by raising awareness through prevention, intervention and education.

Keeping yourself and your children safe while getting the information you will need to make a smooth transition to a violence free life is essential. When an abusive partner discovers that the victim is obtaining resources, learning that domestic violence is wrong, threatening to leave or planning a getaway, the abuse can and most often does increase.

“It's not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something. May I suggest that it be creating joy for others,  sharing what we have for the betterment of personkind, bringing hope to the lost and love to the lonely.”
